/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Flying from Denmark could become more expensive under a new proposal. The Danish Climate Council wants higher climate fees on departing flights. This proposal would affect passengers flying from Copenhagen Airport. It also impacts residents in southern Sweden who use the airport. However, the Danish government currently has no plans to increase these fees.
Danish parliament previously agreed to phase in flight fees by 2030. Current rules set EU flight fees to reach 50 Danish kroner. Non-European flights face fees between 310 and 410 Danish kroner. The Climate Council now wants European flight fees raised to 220 Danish kroner. They also propose adding 100 Danish kroner to non-European flight fees.
Climate Council member Marie Münster spoke to Danish broadcaster DR about the plan. She said Denmark should match countries with higher flight fees. Former climate minister Lars Aagaard responded for the Moderate Party. He stated that higher fees could make flying too costly for some residents. He noted people might drive to Hamburg or fly via Stockholm instead. Aagaard argued that the European Union should raise fees rather than Denmark.
