/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Danish environmental activists joined a protest at a tech data center site in Amsterdam. Around 200 European activists entered the construction site on Friday, November 6. The group included members from Denmark's Green Youth Movement. Protesters targeted a construction site associated with tech giant Microsoft.
The protest was part of a coordinated campaign called Stop Dirty Data Centres. Demonstrations were planned in 16 European countries over the weekend. Activists marched arm in arm and climbed onto cranes before entering the site. They hung balloons and released smoke to symbolise reclaiming the land. Some carried signs using a Danish expression to criticize data centers. A demonstration is also scheduled in Denmark on Saturday, November 7.
The Amsterdam site is owned by Pure Data Centres. The company plans to invest over one billion dollars. The company asked protesters to leave safely and enter into open dialogue. Microsoft stated that it respects the right of people to express their concerns. The campaign calls for a pause on new data center projects across Europe. This news was reported by CPH Post.
