/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Check local kiosk goods carefully when shopping in Copenhagen. Authorities recently found safety violations in almost all inspected kiosks.
Inspectors checked 22 kiosks across Copenhagen on October 6. They found serious violations at 21 of these businesses.
Officials seized 1,050 illegal nicotine products and 352 e-cigarettes. They also found 50 kilograms of liquor products.
Food hygiene was a major concern during the checks. One store had mold inside soft ice and slush ice machines. Another store had fruit flies near open pick-and-mix candy.
Inspectors also found large amounts of cash during the visits. They found over 341,800 Danish kroner across the businesses. One kiosk hid 149,000 Danish kroner in three safes.
Authorities ordered one business to close immediately. The Ministry of Taxation and Growth announced the findings. Officials selected the kiosks using risk assessments rather than random picks.
Taxation and Growth Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt criticized the kiosk sector. He called for continued tough inspections.
The operation involved 71 officials from five public agencies. These included tax, food safety, and police authorities. The raid covered Nørrebro, Vesterbro, Amager, Nordvest, and central Copenhagen.
This was the fifth coordinated inspection of kiosks this year. Authorities plan further inspections and tax audits soon. Source: CPH Post.
