/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /You can continue flying between Copenhagen and Aarhus by seaplane until June 2027. The Copenhagen City Council extended the route's temporary environmental permit on Thursday. This extension gives the operator more time to find a permanent landing site.
The current permit for Nordre Toldbod was set to expire on January 1, 2027. Nordic Seaplanes operates the 45-minute flight between Denmark's two largest cities. The aircraft fall into a higher pollution category than allowed at the site. Because of noise pollution, the company cannot get a permanent permit there.
A council majority supported the extension to help find a port location. The company plans to introduce electric seaplanes starting in 2032. Electric planes will significantly reduce noise and odor pollution.
Dansk Erhverv, the Danish Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the decision. Deputy director Marc Perera Christensen called fast connections vital for business. Nordic Seaplanes has operated this route under temporary permits since 2015. This report is based on coverage by CPH Post.
