/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Buyers in Copenhagen now have more housing choices as apartment listings rise. Prices are cooling down across the capital city.
More than 2,000 owner-occupied apartments are now for sale in Copenhagen Municipality. Housing website Boligsiden reported 2,057 listings at the start of October. This number is over five percent higher than last month. It is almost twice the total from one year ago.
Birgit Daetz is a housing economist at Boligsiden. She said buyers face less competition for each property. Sellers must now compete harder to attract buyers. This shift has caused larger price cuts on Copenhagen apartments.
Listings increased in every district over the past year. Copenhagen S had 530 apartments for sale in early October. That is an increase of over 150 percent in one year.
Brian Friis Helmer is an economist at AL Sydbank. He said the local housing market is losing speed. Sales activity is slowing down across the area. Monthly price increases are becoming smaller.
Across Denmark, apartment listings rose 6.3 percent over the year. However, listings for single-family and terraced homes fell 11.9 percent.
