China Promotes 30-Day Visa-Free Travel for Danish and Swedish Citizens

Your Danish or Swedish family members can now travel to China without a visa. This exemption covers stays up to 30 days through December 31, 2026.

China's Mission to the EU launched a campaign at Brussels Airport on October 27. It promotes easier travel for citizens of 25 EU member states. Denmark and Sweden are both included in this scheme.

Eligible travellers can visit China for tourism, business, or family visits. The policy also covers exchange trips and short transit stays. Visitors save time and avoid paying visa application fees.

Travellers must hold a valid ordinary passport for their stay. Chinese authorities suggest carrying proof of hotel bookings and flight tickets. An invitation letter can also help during border checks.

The visa exemption does not apply to regular work or study. Journalistic assignments still require a visa before travel. Stays longer than 30 days also require a standard visa.

China started this unilateral visa-free policy in December 2023. The allowed stay was extended to 30 days in November 2024.
