1.2-Tonne Pumpkin Sets New Nordic Record at Tivoli Gardens
Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen is displaying a record-breaking 1,198-kilogram giant pumpkin this Halloween.

/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /You can now see a record-breaking giant pumpkin at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. A pumpkin weighing 1,198 kilograms won the annual contest at the park. This giant vegetable set a new Nordic record. It is currently on display in front of the Nimb hotel. The display marks the start of Tivoli's Halloween season.
Peter Holst Olsen from Næstved grew the winning pumpkin. He took first place and won a 15,000 kroner prize. His pumpkin is slightly heavier than an average Peugeot 208 car. The previous Danish record pumpkin weighed 1,116 kilograms. That makes the new winner 82 kilograms heavier.
Other growers also entered impressive pumpkins into the competition. Ole Christensen from Skanderborg took second place with a 349.4 kilogram pumpkin. Per Thomsen from Haslev came third with a 326 kilogram pumpkin. Tivoli has hosted this giant pumpkin contest for 19 years.
The current world record pumpkin weighed 1,278.8 kilograms. Twin brothers Ian and Stuart Paton from England set that record in 2025. Tivoli offers a 25,000 kroner prize for breaking the world record. This report is based on coverage by The Local.
