Visitors will see joint aerial displays and defense demonstrations. The public event features aircraft from Sweden, NATO allies, and international partners. Swedish Air Force Chief Maj. Gen. Jonas Wikman speaks on August 22.
The celebration begins with an aviation symposium on August 21. Military leaders and industry experts will discuss future air defense. U.S. National Guard forces from New York and South Dakota are participating. New York and Sweden became formal state partners in July 2024. This partnership followed Sweden joining NATO four months earlier.
American units brought several military aircraft and displays to Linköping. An HC-130J Combat King II turboprop aircraft will fly during the show. Displays also include rescue vehicles and a model MQ-9 Reaper drone. South Dakota airmen are sharing fighter expertise regarding Sweden's JAS 39 Gripen.
