Stockholm Museum Cancels Qi Baishi Exhibition Planned for Autumn

Stockholm's Museum of East Asia cancelled its autumn exhibition of painter Qi Baishi.

The museum reopens in September after major renovation works.

The Qi Baishi exhibition was part of the reopening program.

The Chinese partner organisation BFAA failed to meet agreed project deadlines.

Because of this, BFAA could not fulfill its commitments on time.

The museum is part of Sweden's National Museums of World Culture.

Superintendent Britta Söderqvist commented on the decision in a press release.

She stated staff looked forward to presenting Qi Baishi's artwork.

However, continuing with the exhibition is no longer practically possible.

Qi Baishi lived from 1864 until his death in 1957.

He remains a central figure in modern Chinese ink painting.

Visitors will not see his work at the museum this autumn.
