Deadly School Sword Attack in Fagersta Shocks Sweden

/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /A deadly school attack in central Sweden has shocked the nation. A pupil killed a 17-year-old girl and injured three teenagers in Fagersta. Fagersta is located 200 kilometres northwest of Stockholm. The attack happened on August 21 at Brinellskolan school.
Police arrested 18-year-old pupil Liam Nebel ten minutes after the first call. He allegedly entered the school with a key tag. He attacked people at random with a sword. Nebel was placed in pre-trial detention on Sunday. Prosecutors have until September 21 to formally charge him.
A 17-year-old girl died from repeated sword stabs. She hoped to study medicine or midwifery in Stockholm. Two boys suffered serious injuries, and one needed emergency surgery. Another student drove an injured boy to the hospital in an A-traktor. A third teenager received minor physical injuries.
Witnesses said Nebel wore a helmet, mask, and black clothes. He posted videos praising mass murderers and far-right groups on TikTok. The suspect had a history of violent behavior and home abuse. He was previously placed in foster care under the youth care act LVU.
Education Minister Simona Mohamsson announced a new school attack commission. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson visited Fagersta to support the community. Political leaders cancelled their planned summer speeches following the tragedy. Schools opened on Monday with a focus on emotional support for students.
