/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Borrowing costs across Europe will stay steady for now. The European Central Bank has decided to keep its interest rate unchanged. The main interest rate remains at 2.5 percent. Danish broadcaster DR reported the news from a central bank press release.
Central bank officials stated that inflation remains stable overall. Energy prices have continued to rise across the region. The full effects of the energy shock have not hit yet. However, underlying inflation has stayed largely steady so far. Wages have not reacted noticeably to higher energy costs yet.
Rising energy costs still create a risk of higher future inflation. The bank previously raised its rate to 2.5 percent at its last meeting. Stable central rates keep local mortgage costs and loan interest steady.
