/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Being listed on Denmark's bad debtor register blocks housing and phone contracts. Credit agency Experian warns that more young adults in Denmark face this risk. Small recurring subscriptions are driving this trend.
The total number of bad payers in the RKI register actually fell. It dropped by two percent since the New Year to 161,577 people. That equals about 3.3 percent of Denmark's adult population. Experian director Bo Rasmussen said high employment helped improve overall personal finances.
However, the situation is different for young adults aged 18 to 20. Their share on the RKI register rose to 1.04 percent. Experts warn that small monthly payment traps quickly add up to serious debt.
Being on the RKI register creates major obstacles for daily life in Denmark. Listed individuals often struggle to rent apartments, get phone plans, or secure bank loans. The Copenhagen Post reported these findings based on new data from Experian.
