/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /You can now buy discounted household goods on Too Good To Go. The Danish app is expanding beyond surplus food. It announced five new product categories on Thursday. Users can now buy surplus personal care items. The platform also offers discounted pet accessories. Other new options include flowers and plants. Customers can also find dietary supplements and household goods.
The app launched in 2016 to fight food waste. CEO Mette Lykke reflected on the ten-year journey. She noted that surplus exists in all parts of a store. Retailers approached the company with non-food surplus challenges. Over 8,500 stores will offer these non-food items. About one-third of these stores already sell food on the app.
Surplus items include seasonal stock and outdated packaging. Discontinued goods and unsold gift sets will also be available. Unsold goods are sold in discounted surprise bags. Too Good To Go gets a percentage of each transaction. The app helps businesses recover value from unsold merchandise. Customers also get access to a wider selection of discounted products.
The app now operates in 20 countries worldwide. It has 150 million registered users. The platform partners with 200,000 active businesses. Local shoppers in Copenhagen can use the app to save money on daily goods. The news was reported by CPH Post.
