/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark's main liver transplant department is losing three senior doctors.
This follows warnings about patient safety at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen.
The hospital sent the doctors home after they raised concerns.
Danish broadcaster DR first reported the departures.
Five senior doctors had written to hospital management and regional officials.
They expressed concern after two surgeons left earlier this year.
Rigshospitalet operates Denmark's only liver transplant unit.
Staff had raised questions about standards in the department.
Hospital managers met regional politicians on Monday.
They promised that patient care and capacity remain sufficient.
Regional politician Christoffer Buster Reinhardt welcomed the assurance.
He noted that the departing doctors will be hard to replace.
Council Chairman Lars Gaardhøj commented on guidelines for experimental surgery.
He said it is too early to decide if rules were broken.
An external investigation will now examine past patient treatments.
The investigation will evaluate professional standards and documentation.
