/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Travelers between Denmark and Sweden must keep carrying valid passports or residence permits. Denmark and Sweden have officially extended internal Schengen border checks for another six months. The extension runs from November 12, 2026, through May 11, 2027.
Authorities cited heightened security threats, hybrid risks, and public order concerns for the move. Border police will maintain random spot checks at land and maritime crossing points. These controls cover the Öresund region and the German-Danish border.
Commuters, students, and tourists should expect potential delays during cross-border trips. Travelers must ensure they carry official identification at all times when crossing borders. The Copenhagen Post reported the decision.
