Summer Events Kick Off Across Copenhagen and Denmark This Week

Denmark is holding major summer events across the country this week. Highlights include cliff diving in Copenhagen, local Sankthans bonfires, and big music festivals.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series returns to Copenhagen on Saturday. Men will jump 27 meters into the canal from the Copenhagen Opera House. Women will jump 21 meters. Thousands of spectators will attend. Good alternative viewing spots include Ofelia Plads, Skuespilhuset, and the harbour near Amalienborg.

Midsummer Sankthans celebrations take place across Danish towns and cities. People gather for bonfires, singing, and long summer evenings with family and friends.

Copenhagen also hosts the Copenhell metal festival on Refshaleøen starting Wednesday. The four-day festival features Iron Maiden, Bring Me the Horizon, Volbeat, and Alice Cooper. Roskilde Festival opens its gates on Saturday for early activities. Main concerts start July 1st.
