/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Danish parents and young social media users face growing concerns over online algorithms. A new study shows TikTok quickly pushes misogynist content to young men in Denmark.
Researchers from two Danish organisations conducted the study for the government. They created eight fake accounts of teen boys interested in fitness and gaming. Within three minutes on average, TikTok presented them with misogynist videos. In one case, toxic content appeared after just 21 seconds.
Researchers also tracked 29 young men over a year. These users saw five to six misogynist videos each week. Equality Minister Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen called for stronger social media rules. She urged parents to discuss phone safety with their children.
TikTok stated it takes these concerns very seriously. The company removes 98 percent of rule-breaking content proactively. It is also adjusting recommendation systems to improve user safety. (Source: The Local)
