/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Electricity prices in Denmark will drop sharply on Saturday. Strong winds are boosting power production across the country. Residents with variable power plans can save money this weekend. It is a good time to run washing machines or charge electric vehicles.
Energy company Norlys expects Saturday spot prices to average 0.26 Danish kroner per kilowatt-hour. This is well below the average price for October. Earlier this month, average spot prices reached 1.16 Danish kroner in western Denmark. Prices averaged 1.19 Danish kroner in eastern Denmark, including Copenhagen.
Saturday marks the first time in October that prices stay below one krone all day. Prices will remain low throughout Saturday. The highest price will occur around 19:00 at about 0.76 Danish kroner.
Severe gales in western Denmark could keep prices low on Sunday too. Ellen Trolle from Norlys said consumers will likely get another cheap day.
Final power bills will still include extra charges. Grid fees, tariffs, subscriptions, and VAT are added to wholesale spot prices. Fixed-price contract holders will not see immediate savings. This news was reported by CPH Post.
