Stena Line Orders Two China-Built Hybrid Ferries for Sweden-Denmark Route

Travel between Denmark and Sweden will soon get a major upgrade.

Stena Line ordered two new hybrid ferries built in China.

The vessels will serve the route between Gothenburg and Frederikshavn from 2030.

They will replace the older Stena Danica and Stena Jutlandica ships.

China Merchants Industry Weihai Shipyard will build both new ferries.

Each ferry can carry 1,500 passengers and 2,750 lane meters of freight.

The new design will improve passenger comfort and sustainability on board.

The hybrid engines can run on fuel and electricity.

They will switch to full battery power when port chargers are ready.

Stena Line also plans to shift freight operations to Arendal.

This move offers better rail links for regional cargo transit.

These are the sixth and seventh E-Flexer ships in the fleet.

Other E-Flexer ferries already serve the Irish Sea and Sweden to Poland.
