/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Travel from Stockholm this winter may become more expensive and limited. Ryanair will cut its European winter flight schedule to save on fuel costs. The Irish airline announced the plan on Wednesday. Higher fuel prices caused by the US-Iran war led to this decision.
The carrier did not list which specific routes it will cancel. Ryanair usually loses money between November and March. Demand drops sharply after the busy summer season. Cutting winter flights should reduce losses by 70 million to 100 million euros.
The airline lowered its full-year passenger target from 216 million to 214 million. European short-haul airfares will increase materially if high oil prices continue. This fare hike could last through the summer of 2027.
Ryanair locked in most of its fuel at 67 dollars a barrel. This rate is far below current market prices. The company still expects a profitable financial year. However, net profit will fall below its record of 2.17 billion euros. This report was published by The Local.
