/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Young people in Denmark may soon get guaranteed transport to their schools.
This proposed rule could help student families living outside big cities.
The Red-Green Alliance party raised this demand during national budget talks.
The party leader is Pelle Dragsted.
He wants every youth to reach high school or vocational school easily.
Free public transport for people under 22 is already in government plans.
However, bus routes in rural areas have dropped over recent years.
Without reliable buses, free travel tickets remain of limited value.
The party wants extra public funds to rebuild rural bus networks.
It suggests raising 1 billion DKK from real estate profit taxes.
Municipalities currently must provide transport for primary school pupils living far away.
The party wants a similar minimum right for older youth nationwide.
Other demands include removing public school fees and expanding free dental care.
The party also seeks limits on profits from welfare services in Denmark.
According to CPH Post, budget negotiations are currently ongoing.
