Quantum Chip Plant to Open in Copenhagen

A new quantum chip facility will open in Copenhagen in 2027. It will expand career opportunities for local tech workers. Quantum Foundry Copenhagen announced the plans today. The site is owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. It will span 5,300 square meters.

The factory will produce next-generation quantum chips. Quantum chips are core processors for quantum computers. The facility combines lab spaces with vacuum manufacturing. It will supply commercial wafer fabrication services globally.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation allocated 2.9 billion Danish kroner to quantum research. Part of this money funds the Niels Bohr Institute. The institute aims to build a quantum computer by 2034. The new facility will collaborate closely with this university program. This step helps turn scientific breakthroughs into commercial products.
