Police seize extreme electric scooter in Denmark

Danish police have confiscated an electric scooter capable of reaching 146 kilometres per hour.

A traffic officer spotted the vehicle on Tinglevvej in Aabenraa on Monday morning.

The scooter was travelling well above the legal limit of 20 kilometres per hour.

The officer pursued the scooter in a patrol car.

The patrol car measured the scooter's speed at around 80 kilometres per hour.

Police stopped the 52-year-old male driver.

A technical check showed the vehicle weighed around 40 kilograms.

The scooter had motor drive on both front and rear wheels.

Officers tested the speedometer with the wheels lifted off the ground.

The unladen free-wheel measurement showed a speed of 146 kilometres per hour.

South and South Jutland Police seized the vehicle for permanent confiscation.

The 52-year-old driver now faces multiple charges for traffic violations.

In Denmark, electric scooters must not exceed 20 kilometres per hour.
