Novo Nordisk Cuts 4,000 More Jobs Than Planned

Danish pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk has cut 13,000 jobs worldwide. This is 4,000 more positions than the company originally planned to eliminate.

CEO Mike Doustdar revealed the final layoff numbers on Monday in London. He spoke during the company's capital markets day event.

In autumn 2025, Novo announced plans to cut 9,000 global jobs. That initial plan included 5,000 positions based in Denmark.

The company implemented these cuts as part of a major cost-cutting strategy. Novo shares fell nearly five percent after the company presented its updated growth strategy.
