Medical Cannabis Use Rises Sharply in Denmark
Danish doctors prescribed significantly more medical cannabis last year following policy changes.

/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Danish patients are using significantly more medical cannabis. The Danish Medicines Agency released new data on the practice.
Redeemed prescriptions for cannabis products rose by 64 percent in 2025. The number of patients collecting these prescriptions grew by 54 percent.
Denmark started a trial medical cannabis scheme in 2018. Authorities made the scheme permanent earlier this year.
The scheme allows doctors to prescribe specialized cannabis products. These products remain illegal under standard Danish drug laws.
The arrangement serves specific medical needs. It targets patients with multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, cancer, and chronic pain, according to Ritzau and DR.
