Greater Copenhagen light rail opens full line with 50,000 free trips

Greater Copenhagen opened its full light rail route yesterday. Around 50,000 people took a free ride on opening day. The modern tram line now connects Ishøj to Lundtofte. Hovedstadens Letbane shared the passenger numbers in a press release.

The southern section with 12 stations opened in autumn 2025. Yesterday, 17 new stations joined the full network. Passengers can now travel the complete route across the capital area.

Musicians Tessa and Sanne Salomonsen performed live at Gladsaxe City Hall. The free rides and concerts marked the official launch of the full line. Danish public broadcaster DR reported the new service details.
