Five EU Countries Agree in Copenhagen on Non-EU Return Hubs

Denmark and four other EU nations met in Copenhagen to discuss deportation plans. This signals stricter immigration enforcement for non-EU residents without legal stay in Denmark. Ministers from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and Greece joined the host country, Denmark. They agreed on principles to transfer rejected asylum seekers outside the EU.

These offshore facilities are known as return hubs. Denmark expects to start using third-country partner facilities in late 2027. The plan targets foreign nationals who do not have legal permission to stay.
