/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Travelers at Copenhagen Airport face longer security queues through the weekend. Regulators ordered extra checks after finding issues during routine inspections. Some passengers have already missed their flights. Airport officials advise arriving much earlier than usual.
On Thursday evening, wait times reached at least 45 minutes. This affected both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Some queues stretched all the way to the metro platform. One traveler waited over two hours and missed his flight.
Trafikstyrelsen, the Danish aviation authority, introduced these temporary rules. The authority did not state what caused the extra checks. Airport communications director Lise Agerley Kürstein reported adding extra staff. However, she warned that delays will continue through the weekend.
The airport recommends arriving two hours early for European flights. Travelers heading outside Europe should arrive three hours before departure. The delays follow a busy travel period for the airport. It handled 3.2 million passengers in September alone.
