/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Traveling across Europe by plane, train, or bus will soon become easier. The European Parliament approved new safeguard rules for all passengers in Europe.
Under the rules, airlines must fully refund canceled flight tickets within 14 days. This rule also applies when you book through travel agents or online platforms. The refund must cover any service fees charged by those booking agents. Travelers must be informed of these rights when making a booking.
The European Commission will create a standard refund form in all EU languages. This single form will work for planes, trains, buses, and ferries. Passengers with reduced mobility can bring a companion on planes for free. This right already exists for travel by bus, train, and ship.
Italian lawmaker Matteo Ricci said national authorities will enforce these rules strictly. Passengers will not need to go to court to get their refunds. The EU Council must formally approve the text before it becomes law. The new safeguards will take effect on October 23, 2027, according to The Local.
