English loanwords face Danish replacement campaign
A Danish Language Council campaign has collected over 2,100 English words used in daily speech to find Danish substitutes.

The Danish Language Council is mapping these English terms to find local substitutes.
The nationwide initiative is called "Kan vi på dansk?" or "Can we speak Danish?".
So far, 2,338 people have submitted around 2,100 English loanwords to the council.
Common words like "sale", "nice", "random", "fuck", and "onboarding" top the submission list.
Project manager Kasper Kristjansson tracks these submissions to find local alternatives.
Understanding these language trends helps international residents learn everyday Danish.
