/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Thousands of households in Denmark will pay higher district heating bills in 2027. Ten energy companies have already announced price hikes. Most of these announced increases range from six to ten percent. These changes will directly affect household budget planning across the country.
The Danish media outlet TV 2 first reported the price changes. Tue Patursson is a building specialist at the homeowner knowledge center Bolius. He explained that heating plants rely on biofuel, gas, oil, and electricity. Higher energy prices are now pushing district heating bills higher across the board.
Some local areas face even larger cost increases next year. Customers in Præstø in South Zealand will see a 40 percent price jump. The local plant tried converting its production from fossil fuels to electricity. However, insufficient capacity in the regional power grid blocked the transition. Board chair Morten Møller Kristensen said the company had to return to gas. Several other heating plants transitioning to green power face similar grid constraints.
On October 1, the Folketing passed an emergency electricity grid plan. A broad majority of lawmakers approved the new measure. The plan lets Danish authorities prioritize access to limited power grid capacity. The full national impact remains unclear as many suppliers have not published 2027 rates.
