/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Living in Denmark or Sweden and transferring money to China will soon become easier. The People's Bank of China appointed Deutsche Bank as an official Renminbi clearing bank. It is the first European foreign bank to receive this official designation. Operating from Frankfurt, the bank will process cross-border Renminbi transactions directly. This connects European financial systems straight to China's onshore payment network.
For local residents, this change helps reduce currency friction and processing fees. It offers faster end-to-end payment processing between European and Chinese bank accounts. Chinese students, expats, and business owners will benefit from direct clearing services. The new channel supports better trade settlements and liquidity management across Europe. Transactions will carry reduced counterparty risk and offer greater operational speed.
Deutsche Bank has worked on Renminbi internationalization for many years. In 2015, it joined China's Cross-border Interbank Payment System as a direct participant. The bank operates across key offshore centers like London, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Executive Alexander von zur Muehlen stated this expands choice for cross-border trade. Executive Leo Yin noted the bank will connect onshore and offshore ecosystems. This news was announced in an official press release by Deutsche Bank.
