Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned parliament about growing security threats on Tuesday. She urged everyone in Denmark to stay attentive in the coming period. Denmark is one of the most digitized countries in the world. Security measures must keep up with this high level of digitization.
Recent cyberattacks targeted the Technical University of Denmark and the University of Copenhagen. The attack on the University of Copenhagen affected around 525,000 people. Exposed details included names, CPR numbers, phone numbers, and private email addresses.
The CPR register system was also breached in a separate September incident. That breach exposed data belonging to over 8.7 million people. Private Danish companies are also facing cyber threats abroad. Industrial group Danfoss saw its supermarket cooling systems targeted in several European countries. According to CPH Post, authorities are now working to strengthen national cybersecurity.
