Denmark Traffic Injuries Rose in 2025 While Deaths Fell Slightly

Danish roads saw an increase in traffic injuries in 2025. You should take extra care when commuting. Police recorded 2,832 injured or killed people on the roads. This was an increase of 313 compared to 2024.

Traffic deaths dropped slightly from 145 in 2024 to 143 in 2025. Denmark has recorded under 200 annual traffic deaths for ten years straight. Between 1965 and 1973, over 1,000 people died in traffic each year.

In 2025, 1,732 people suffered serious injuries. Another 957 people had minor injuries. Injuries went up across nearly all transport types, except mopeds. Electric bicycle injuries grew from 173 in 2024 to 211 in 2025. Almost three-quarters of injured e-bike riders were aged 45 or older.

Police figures only include accidents reported to them. Hospital emergency rooms keep their own separate records. In 2024, hospitals registered 29,589 injured people. That was over 1,000 more than the previous year.
