Denmark Starts Construction on First Energy Integrated Data Centre

Tech workers and energy professionals in Denmark have a new project to watch. Groundbreaking began for Dansk Data Center 1 at the Port of Esbjerg.

The project sets a new model for green digital infrastructure. PensionDanmark, Thylander, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners build and own the facility.

Construction starts in August 2026. The centre will open in October 2027.

The facility has a capacity of 11.5 megawatt. It connects directly to the power grid operator N1.

Smart energy systems from Plexar will control electricity consumption continuously. The system reduces pressure on the local power grid during peak times.

The centre recycles its excess heat for local district heating with DIN Forsyning. Its cooling system reuses water in a closed circular system.

This project helps Denmark expand local data capacity for artificial intelligence. It also creates a sustainable model for future data infrastructure in the country.
