A homeowner found the hoard while digging a patio in Rebild. The 10th-century find weighs 18.5 kilograms in total. This is nearly three times the previous national record.
The collection contains around 700 individual items. These items include solid silver bars and bracelets. Diggers also found a Thor's hammer pendant.
Exactly 47 coins were part of the silver treasure. These coins link Viking Denmark to England and the Islamic world. The find highlights Denmark's rich trade history across continents.
