Denmark Proposes 200 DKK Cruise Passenger Tax From 2028
Business groups warn that a proposed tax on cruise ship passengers could harm Danish tourism.

The proposed fee is 200 Danish kroner per passenger.
Two major business groups warn this tax could scare tourists away.
They fear cruise ships will skip Danish ports entirely.
The government expects the tax to raise 300 million Danish kroner every year.
This money will help pay for ship pollution, noise, and city traffic.
In 2025, 1.1 million cruise visitors came to Denmark.
That was a 16 percent increase in port calls from the previous year.
Most passengers visit Copenhagen, Aarhus, Skagen, and Rønne on Bornholm.
Together, these four destinations account for over 98 percent of all cruise guests.
Industry leaders say Iceland saw bookings drop after setting a similar high tax.
Iceland later cut its cruise passenger tax to 85 Danish kroner.
Greenland currently charges 50 Danish kroner per passenger.
The port organization Danske Havne called the proposed 200 kroner tax unreasonably high.
