Denmark pauses pig farm approvals and signs Greenland deal
Denmark halts new pig farm approvals, funds rural schools, and signs a security deal for Greenland.

/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark has paused all approvals for new pig farms for 12 months. The government wants to reform the pig industry. It plans to improve animal welfare. It also aims to keep more pig processing work inside Denmark.
Denmark is also giving half a billion kroner to keep rural schools open. Finance Minister Pia Olsen Dyhr announced the plan. Between 2007 and 2025, Denmark closed 339 schools. Municipalities will now decide which local schools to save with this new money.
In diplomacy, Denmark, Greenland, and the US signed a security pact. US President Donald Trump signed the agreement with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The deal confirms Danish sovereignty over Greenland. The US will build two new military bases in Greenland. Danish media called the agreement a diplomatic masterpiece.
