/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark has passed an emergency energy law. The law protects households and public services. It stops commercial data centers from taking all power grid capacity. The rules start on 12 October 2026.
The Danish Parliament voted for the emergency plan on 1 October 2026. This law replaces the old first-come, first-served rule. Queue demand reached 57 gigawatts. Peak national demand is only about 7 gigawatts.
The new system divides power connections into four tiers. Tier 1 covers homes, standard growth, and emergency services. Tier 2 supports green energy projects. Tier 3 is for energy storage facilities. Tier 4 includes large consumers like commercial data centers.
The queue has delayed energy projects for years. Energinet fell behind schedule. About 70 percent of projects faced two-year delays. This new rule ensures homes and hospitals get electricity first.
