Denmark Mandates MitID to Switch Electricity Suppliers

They must verify your identity using MitID or a physical written signature. This measure stops companies from moving your account without your clear consent.

In Copenhagen, electricity contracts connect to your address and CPR number. Renters, students, and business owners usually manage their own power provider. In the past, aggressive sales calls sometimes led to unauthorized contract changes. Now, no supplier switch can happen unless you personally approve it.
If a salesperson calls you with a lower rate, do not share your details. Never approve a MitID request unless you want to sign a new contract. If your supplier changes unexpectedly, contact your original provider right away.
