/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark is using more electric power to replace oil and gas. Electricity met 23.4 percent of total energy needs in 2025. The data comes from industry group Green Power Denmark. This share grew by 1.5 percentage points in one year. From 2016 to 2024, it rose by only 3.8 percentage points.
Electric cars and electric heat pumps drive this rapid rise. District heating firms are buying electric boilers and heat pumps. CEO Kristian Jensen says this reduces dependence on foreign fuel. Danes will rely less on oil prices set in the Middle East or US politics. Green Power Denmark wants electric power at 60 percent by 2035.
Danish factories must also switch from gas to heat pumps. Iron foundries and dairy maker Arla already use large heat pumps. Jensen says electric heat lowers emissions and cuts fuel costs. Figures for 2026 are not out yet, but the shift will continue.
