Danish Tax Agency Recovers 539 Million Kroner After Audits

The Danish Tax Agency has recovered almost 539 million Danish kroner from recent company audits.

Tax officials checked 3,500 Danish and foreign businesses. They checked if companies registered value added tax and income tax correctly.

Errors or fraud were found in nearly 60 percent of the audited companies. This is the highest error rate found by the agency since 2015.

The agency sent payment notices to all non-compliant companies.

Preben Buchholtz is a deputy director at the Danish Tax Agency. He said the agency is now better at picking which companies to check.

He stated that audits help secure correct tax payments. He added that checks support fair competition for rule-following businesses.
