Danish Schools Reject Record Number of PISA Test Invites

More than half of selected Danish schools declined the latest PISA survey. This drop could affect how official international rankings evaluate local school performance. Kristeligt Dagblad reported the record number of school refusals.

A total of 398 schools were drawn for the survey. Out of those, 215 schools chose not to participate. Two reserve schools were set in advance for each selected school. With reserves, 283 schools ended up participating. In 2022, 347 schools took part in the study.

The total remains below the technical minimum requirement set by the OECD. Statistics Denmark handled the practical work for the survey. Chief consultant Monika Klingsbjerg-Besrechel shared details about the process. She noted that reserve schools saved the study from serious trouble. Officials later investigated whether the low participation changed the final results.
