Danish inflation rose to two percent in August

Consumer prices in Denmark rose to two percent in August compared to last year.

Overall inflation was 0.3 percentage points higher than July's rate of 1.7 percent.

The recent increase in energy prices drove much of this monthly growth.

Even so, overall consumer prices have not climbed drastically across the country.

Core inflation excludes energy and unprocessed food from the price calculations.

This core inflation rate fell slightly to 2.2 percent in August.

In July, core inflation was slightly higher at 2.3 percent.

Danish Industry chief economist Allan Sørensen called this core inflation drop very positive.

He explained that rising energy prices have increased expenses for many businesses.

Consequently, some companies may need to raise prices to cover their costs.
