Danish hospitals reject one in seven GP patient referrals

This number means hospitals turned away one in seven referred patients.

Hospital rejections of doctor referrals were rare before 2018.

Since then, the total number of rejected referrals has exploded.

The trend affects people who need specialist medical examinations.

Jørgen Skadborg is the chairman of the Organization of General Practitioners.

He warned that these rejections delay vital diagnoses and treatments for patients.

Skadborg is now calling for new legislation to stop hospitals from rejecting referrals.
