Danish Competition Council takes Wolt to court

Food delivery platform Wolt faces a court case in Denmark for market abuse. The Danish Competition Council claims Wolt broke competition law three times. These alleged violations happened between 2022 and 2024. The council wants the courts to fine Wolt.

Wolt disagrees with the findings. The company also wants courts to review the case. Wolt interim country manager Jakob Bollerup confirmed this stance. He expects a balanced review of evidence in court.

The council highlighted three illegal practices. First, Wolt stopped restaurants from offering lower prices on their own websites. Wolt stated in November 2025 that it dropped this price clause. Second, Wolt offered discounts on meals without telling restaurants. Restaurants could not offer similar discounts on their own channels.

Third, Wolt charged restaurants up to 400 Danish kroner for customer complaints. This applied even if Wolt caused delivery problems. Council chairman Christian Schultz said restaurants bore the full financial risk. Wolt must now inform all platform restaurants about the decision.
