/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Copenhagen underground metro stations cannot serve as bomb shelters without renovations.
Danish media reported this after obtaining official emails through information requests.
The stations have unsafe glass skylights, poor ventilation, and limited toilets.
A total of 30 out of 44 Copenhagen metro stations are underground.
Last July, metro operator Metroselskabet investigated using stations as emergency shelters.
The operator looked at Ukrainian cities for practical inspiration.
Broadcaster DR revealed that city officials rejected the shelter plan.
Glass skylights in the stations could shatter during air attacks.
Ventilation and toilet access also fall below required shelter standards.
Stations offer only short protection to passengers already inside the system.
Metroselskabet clarified that temporary protection is not a true bomb shelter.
Broadcaster DR noted cycle shelters at stations could potentially become shelters.
