Copenhagen Hosts World Athletics Road Running Championships 2026

Copenhagen will host the World Athletics Road Running Championships on September 19 and 20. The major event will bring traffic closures and public transport disruptions across the city. It also offers free cultural activities and public races for residents and visitors.

Nearly 500 elite international athletes will compete in Copenhagen. Tens of thousands of recreational runners will also join the races. The championship features three main distances. Runners can compete in the 1 Mile, 5K, and Half Marathon events.

Forum Copenhagen will host a public Expo during the event weekend. Cultural and sporting activities will take place across the Danish capital. Spectators can watch live sports and join local festivities around the course.
