/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Copenhagen home buyers face more choice as apartment listings doubled since January. Meanwhile, over 750,000 residents in Denmark now hold tax-favored investment savings accounts. These updates come from a Thursday report by news outlet The Local.
Property site Boligsiden reported 1,955 owned apartments for sale in Copenhagen municipality this month. That is an 11.7 percent increase in just one month. Sales in the capital have slowed down. Prices are now plateauing after record low supply six months ago. Houses in Copenhagen saw a smaller supply rise of two percent last month. However, housing supply across the rest of Denmark fell.
Residents are also using tax perks to grow their personal wealth. Figures from Finans Danmark show 114,000 new investment savings accounts opened over six years. Account holders pay a reduced 17 percent tax rate on profits. Standard share profits face a 27 percent tax rate. The yearly deposit limit increased to 174,200 Danish kroner this year.
Danish homeowners are also turning to green energy subsidies. The Danish Energy Agency received 15,850 applications for heat pump funding this year. That figure is nearly double last year's total. Approved households get between 17,000 and 27,000 Danish kroner for heat pumps. They can also get up to 10,000 Danish kroner to remove gas boilers.
Finally, Danish politicians vote today on a controversial agricultural law. The law aims to cut nitrogen runoff in waterways. Farmers group Landbrug & Fødevarer claims the law violates the Danish constitution. Legal experts remain divided on the constitutional claim.
