/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Nordic families planning multi-stop Asia trips can now travel through China more easily. China has expanded its 240-hour visa-free transit policy to 65 ports of entry. Nationals of 57 countries qualify for this 10-day visa exemption. Both Denmark and Sweden are included on the eligible list.
The policy requires travelers to transit through China to a third destination. For example, flying from Copenhagen to Shanghai and then to Tokyo qualifies. Trips to Hong Kong or Macao also count as third destinations. Travelers must show a confirmed ticket leaving China within 10 days.
Danish and Swedish citizens already enjoy a 30-day unilateral visa exemption through late 2026. However, this 10-day transit policy helps families traveling with non-EU passport holders. For instance, relatives with US passports can use this transit option without a visa. Travelers can also visit multiple authorized Chinese provinces during their stay. The authorized stay calculation starts at midnight after the day of arrival. This policy update took effect on August 20, 2026.
